When you are on holiday, it is a nice feeling to have wheels to be able to drive around and to discover the allure of a new place. Unfortunately, car hire doesn’t always come cheap.
Save Money Hound provides some handy tips on how to find the cheapest car hire deals and how to save money when it comes to holiday car hire.
All inclusive rate
You often seen cheap daily rates being advertised. Clarify what is included in these daily car hire rates. Make sure that you factor into your costs any extras your require on top of the quoted daily car hire rate.
One common extra charge to look out for is the car hire insurance cover you wish to take out. If you don’t take out any car hire insurance and have an accident whilst on holiday, you could be up for a large accidental damage amount.
It is important to be aware that quoted daily rates do not usually include any form of insurance cover to reduce the excess.
Car hire comparison
Hop onto search consolidator sites which provide a comparison of which car companies provide the best rates for the type of car you are hiring. You may wish to go through these car hire comparison websites or choose to go to the car hire company to see whether you can get a better deal direct.
Either way, now you have yourself a starting price for comparison.
Look for hidden extras
Another more important thing to remember is to look for hidden extras.
You think you are paying a certain amount, but when you finally pay the amount with your credit card, the total amount due is way more than you thought.
Make sure you get a breakdown of all the different components of the cost and be clear what you are paying for with each component.
