Free breakfast on offer usually ranges from a standard Continental breakfast to a all you can eat help your buffet breakfast. It’s nice to start off the day with a free breakfast. That way, you only have to worry about feeding yourself for another 2 meals.

A lot of youth hostels these days provide kitchen facilities for you to make your own meals. Make use of these kitchen facilities!

Brush up on your culinary cooking skills and get cooking.  You should be able to cook up simple meals to eat and save money at the same time.

Cooking up meals to share with others can be fun and social.  Consider teaming up with fellow backpackers to share the cost of  meals. Cooking for 4 people is usually more economical than cooking for 1 person.

A Shopping we go at the supermarket. Find your nearest supermarket and buy enough provisions for several meals. Buy enough provisions to cook up a few meals at your hostel as well as some provisions for during the day whilst you are backpacking around.
